The first annual Christmas tree lighting took place December 9, 2016 at the corner of Pulaski Road and New York Avenue. Sponsored by the Huntington Station Business Improvement District the tree was lit by BID President Frank Consentino. The lights were hung on the tree by R & R Brothers Electrical Contractors Inc. and red bows were placed on the bushes making the corner festive for the holidays.

Each year the HS BID decorates for the holidays to support the businesses in Huntington Station. “This is the perfect spot for our tree,” said Frank Consentino. “It is the heart of Huntington Station and can be enjoyed by the hundreds of people who pass this intersection each day and night. The tree lighting was held in conjunction with the Holiday Cantata sponsored by the Huntington Outreach Ministries and Think Feel and Choose. Between the hours of 5PM and 7PM, those who braved the bitter cold were treated to holiday music, hot chocolate and warm cider. Hats, scarfs and gloves were given away by the Rev. B. Watkins and her elves.
