HUNTINGTON STATION BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT ELECTS NEW OFFICERS FOR 2016
The Huntington Station Business Improvement District (HS-BID) at its monthly meeting, February 24th held the election of officers for 2016. Elected to one year terms were President, Frank Cosentino of County Line Hardware, Vice-President Delores Thompson, Municipal Representative, Secretary Frank Ofrias of 9th Street Auto and Treasurer Michael Connell of M.A. Connell Funeral Home. The members of the BID thanked Past President Keith Barrett for his dedication since the inception of the BID.Also recognized was outgoing Treasurer, Brad Rosen, for his work, especially with the security cameras. Both Keith and Brad will continue to serve on the BID board as Directors. Serving on the Board as Directors are Craig Bonawandt, Kyle Albers, Rod Pseja, Luis Mendez, Mary Kelly, Elissa Oransky, and Andrea Golinsky.
The goal of the BID is to promote businesses within the district. The district boundaries are New York Avenue from the Big “H” shopping center to Jericho Turnpike, Depot Road from New York Avenue to E. 17th St. and West Hills Road from New York Avenue to Jericho Turnpike.This is done through various activities such as purchasing and installing the beautiful flower baskets that hang along New York Avenue during the summer, placing garbage cans throughout the area, decorating for the Holidays, installing and maintaining security cameras and being a sponsor of the annual Unity in the Community Parade. The HS-BID also hosts bar-b-que events during the summer so business owners can meet and network in a casual atmosphere.
